An Indian Software engineer, Raj, working in Silicon valley is elated not because of certain code he has written but about the code written by heavens – marriage with an equally skilled, equally smart, beautiful girl working in New Jersey.

He is getting ready to go to India for a grand wedding. His American colleagues ask him, “So did you get any time by when you need to give grand babies?”
All blushing Raj replies ” At least that should be my choice”
one of them clarifies, “Believe me nothing is your choice, you may be getting to choose the color of your underwear on your wedding day”
All say in chorus, “May be, may be”

Happy New Year 2012

Another new year arrives though it’s just another day. When we were small we always had this notion that what ever we do on the first day of the year, we continue/ end up doing the same thing all-round the year! we would get up early in the morning (we never had this Dec 31 night bashes back then in our town). we used to go to temple, wear washed clothes, eat the best food, be nice to every one and have fun if we the school was off.

If that’s true then I would go to a nice beach resort, try bathing in the sun, keep lot of money in the purse, try to in the best company, never think of work. May be we are not that courageous to believe in that notion completely!

There is a lot of speculation and rumors about the world ending in 2012! The Mayan calendar too allegedly ends in 2012.
May be they just felt lucky to stay intact till 2012 but we made sure their culture ended before 2012.
Whether the world ends in 2012 or it gets a new date we would all be participants not spectators of the holocaust.

With the kind of overuse of the its resources, hope Earth would not take corrective action!

Lets have some fun responsibly till then!

We have no Season!

We entered warily through the gate though sign warning of canines, rang the bell – no answer! second time we were lucky, a middle-aged woman opened the door, Seeing the question mark o her face we introduced ourselves. We were there as part of promoting Inner engineering yoga program. We met a couple of people in her neighboring apartment and about to leave.
She said, “Birds have a season, Dogs have a season, Pigs have a season, all animals have a season. But human beings don’t have a season! “
What is she talking about? Is it the same thing which I am thinking?
She continues, ” Birds have a season for having children, Dogs have a season, most of the animals have season”, now the ice has melted and its as clear as a spring lake!
” We human beings don’t have a season, we just reproduce in all seasons, and see the result we are everywhere”.
We did not know what to say as we were surprised to hear her talk this, “Hmm” we said.
She adds “Animals have the intuition to regulate their population when ever they feel its increasing or decreasing, we humans seem to have lost that long back.” This was interesting to know. They cannot count numbers like us but still can regulate their numbers! “we the intelligent ones have lost sense (forget about Intuition).”
We seem to not care about the enormous pressure the increasing population and its demands are putting on the resources of this planet.

If you ask Manmohan Singh, the Indian Prime Minister, the same question that was asked to Jawahar Lal Nehru, “Is it not time to control the population growth?” would like to know what would be his answer. I hope he would not say ” Population is our strength!”

Its time we responded as we can’t afford to see Mother Earth respond to it.

“All the lands of Telangana are in the hands of others”

“Telangana people are not given jobs in Government”

One solution for all the problems! Nice, but with Telangana, do you think all these problems get solved?
History shows they do not.
If we want water, let’s fight for water. If we want jobs, let’s fight for jobs. If we want schools, let’s fight for schools.
One of the reasons other regions are developed is they ask and fight for what they want.

By the time Telangana is given(if at all), the problems will become more worse. We have the vote power, to use.

What do want now? Don’t say I still want only Telangana!

On a quite working day, with not much work to dispense off, browsed through the PICTURES OF THE DAY on the event of 7 Billionth babies’ arrival.
The Picture was “A man with 39 wives, 94 children and 33 grand children”

The picture could capture all of Ziona Chana’s family in a single frame, but I could not imagine how he could manage ‘The world’s biggest family’!
It would be quite a management thing going through the demands of the ‘Family’.

What made this man Mr. Chana take up such an adventure?
Was it the demand that prompted him for spreading aggressively or the excessive supply which drove his largesse?

It was the zeal to expand his Chana sect and what followed is this complete family photograph!

Got 100! Finally

The idea of getting a 100 was in the air since march last year, but never thought this would happen so early. It’s not Sachin’s 100th 100. It is my 100th Post on this Blog!

The media is creating much hype around Sachin’s hundred. Dhoni is right in saying that it will happen when it has to!
My 100 is happening today.

This writing journey has been exciting and scoring 100 is a small token from all the readers I should say. Many thanks to all of you for your patient reading, comments and sharing. I might have bored you with my Dot balls and Singles.
I might have forced to read with the continuous sharing on Orkut, Facebook and Google+ . But my intention was to score a SIX. I have to say that I just hit the ball, you carried some of them, with your reading, to FOURS , SIXES and beyond!

I started Blogging when my friend Bharath started his. It turned into my favorite hobby. Writing Blog has been a kind of Stress buster, a platform to hone my writing skills, to express my thoughts and ideas. A thought of stopping came some time ago when no one was really reading them and I was not feeling inspired to continue posting. Don’t know what made me continue and I became BLOGOMANIAC!

Whether I am celebrating to a full gallery or the empty stands, it’s a nice feeling. Some comments would make it more warm!

To do or not to do

Its the meeting room of a Revenue Department office in a small town Mahabubnagar in the big state of Andhra Pradesh, India. No one knows the reason for calling this untimely meeting. Everyone was thinking ‘What did Sakku Bai make for lunch today’. Sakku runs the canteen where all the employees have their lunch.
“Bhai Aur Bahno“, started the Head officer which sounded political than brotherly or sisterly, “the reason for this meeting is as we already know that there is widespread drought in our District and many farmers are migrating as construction labor”
‘What about the drought in our stomachs now?’ thought many.
“So I on behalf of the Collector office I propose that we skip lunch every alternate day and donate that money to the ‘BACK TO FARMING’ Fund. This is already being implemented in Municipality and a great success”
With lot of resistance the employees gave it a ‘thumbs up’.
“Can we eat lunch today?” asked one employee and everyone is laughing

The ‘Skip a lunch’ program spreads to all other offices and businesses through the word of hungry mouths. This in in vogue. ” We skip lunch alternate day” other says “we skip lunch every day”
‘SKIP A MEAL ALTERNATE DAY’ became ‘SKIP A MEAL EVERY DAY’ and the sense of responsibility and accomplishment replaced everyone’s lunch boxes.
On the other side Canteen and restaurant owners like Sakku Bai are going out of business as very few are having lunch. Owing to very little business, they stopped buying vegetables from the farmers, grains from the stores. Very few farmers who are still farming sell their produce to these canteens as they offered little more than the middle men.
Farmers are forced to sell to the middle men and all the money goes to the money lenders. They too had to skip their lunch!
And the money donated by “BACK TO FARMING” Fund goes to money lenders – BACK TO THE RICH!
Their children had to skip school of course lunch, the teachers had to skip lunch too!
One fine summer day they get into the bus to Mumbai (all the drought hit towns of Andhra Pradesh have direct buses to Mumbai) to take up construction work leaving behind everything while the people are skipping their lunches.

We are moving away from self-reliant communities into a Globalized World where many things are interdependent.

If Greece needs all of Europe to pitch in to resolve its economic crisis,
If a boy in India can only marry if Americans keep buying Indian software,
If a child in China can only eat if a child elsewhere buys toys,
If a child can have calm night if somewhere someone explodes the Sivakasi crackers

then this is not an ideal world for the symbolic 7 billionth children!

P.S. – Its not a mockery of Skipping a meal. Its noble and shows how much we care for others. I am only using it to illustrate how everything is intertwined and how delicately we are balanced, how a small thing can trigger a disaster and how our insanity and stupidity are self-destructive. Regrets if this offended anyone.

Dheko Salaa Salad Khaa raha hai!

I was having lunch with one of my colleagues, and I was having salad. He was having Dal rice with some chutney.
He says ” Why are you eating this now?”
Its 12 noon and I think I am eating lunch. “Why, what’s wrong?”
“You should enjoy now only” he says
“I am enjoying it”.
“This plain leaves, vegetables. You can eat them when you cross 40, any way that time your body will not support spicy food”, he says.
“As an Indian, can’t I eat anything without the famed Indian spices?”
“You can eat but your body should work fine so you have to eat Indian food”, The great lover of Indian food says.
“I am tired of preparing Indian curries and I am just eating Salad, I don’t know if Indian Gods will forgive me but you please do not curse me, my lord”

There is this misconception among the many Indians that Good food is the one which is tasty, spicy, chilly…anything other than that is equivalent to grass.
1.Good food is the one which gives energy and all the essential nutrients.
2. Good food is the one which is light on stomach and does not make you sleepy after eating.
3. Good food need not be tasty or spicy because stomach does not have any taste buds.
4. Good food which prepares your body best for the demands of growing up and old age.
5. Good food is not the one which titillates a few taste buds of the tongue.

Salad is a good food for my body and I think for many others.
