Sachin’s Final Symphony

Mumbai, India and world is preparing for Sachin’s final test, many praise him for his records, his 24 year career, some laud him as the contemporary best batsmen in the world. There are a few who question his greatness. But why do we look forward to seeing him play, watch him in the field?

Personally I find his strokes soothing, whether it is straight drive, cover drive, a flick, or a lofted shot. There are many others who are better players of these strokes but there is some finesse to the way Sachin moves his bat to meet the ball. It’s like a natural flow of a stream, a stroke of a painter’s brush. We are glued to his play with an awe of  watching an artist perform his moves, a gymnast going around the high beam. No matter whether the stroke results in a four, six, no run or out its pleasing to watch him get into position to play his shots.

More than his records, number of years he has played, Sachin has given us a better reason to watch, play cricket. We may analyze, judge is batting but when he going to bat we like watching him. Though he has not been among runs these couple of years, he has worked hard all these 24 years to be relevant to the team with his contribution on and off the field. His humility, enthusiasm in the field and scandal free career will be remembered.

SALUTE TO THIS LITTLE MASTER ON HIS FINAL TEST. WISH HIM ALL THE BEST FOR THE FUTURE.

Sachin Tendulkar

One more Test series is over and again the retirement of Sachin Tendulkar comes to the fore.  Whether we win the series or lose one, we want Sachin to retire!
We have been seeing him for 24 years now, watching him score runs, decimate the bowling at will, build partnerships. Still we expect him to do the same he has been doing in his prime. And that is what his motive is now more than ever.
I tried to watch him bat during the Australian series but could not stay awake and he did not stay long enough at the crease. He seems to be a pale shadow of his old self  finding difficult to cope with aging body and slow reflexes.

We have enjoyed his batting, took pride when he helped India win one World cup, many matches. Now that he is not scoring runs, we  want him to go. Every Tom, Dick and Harry says he has to retire.

Since childhood when  changed school so that he can spend more time playing cricket , Sachin made cricket his parallel life.  His cricket life had its phases, 11 years in the game’s womb preparing to take birth, and what a place he has chosen to introduce himself-Pakistan. Since his birth(debut) at Karachi against Pakistan at the age of 16 he has been a prodigy showing immense skill and maturity. In 90s( teens) he grew fast to bear the burden of Indian batting. He performed in all the countries  with aplomb. The he touched his youth(2000s) to grow into a complete player helping India to become a better team.

WORLD CUP
His dream of winning a world cup finally materialized in 2011 after playing in 5 World cup tournaments.  Suddenly everyone said he became old and has to retire. For others such moments are like reaching Crossroads, they have to choose an alternate path themselves or allow the selectors to do it. For Sachin it is the end of a life as he has not done much other than cricket. It’s hard for him to come to terms with aging body and decline in form.  He has lifted himself many a times from abyss to silence the finger pointers. This seems to be different. Finally age has caught with him.

RETIREMENT
By asking Sachin to retire we are only asking him to commit suicide and end his Cricket life. We should be patient enough to not put him in league with others and let him overcome the twilight phase and help him transcend with minimum pressure.

We must let him pass gracefully into After Cricket life and allow him to decide his passage into another kind of life which he might have never imagined.  All the very best Sachin and to his fans including me!

Got 100! Finally

The idea of getting a 100 was in the air since march last year, but never thought this would happen so early.  It’s not Sachin’s 100th 100. It is my 100th Post on this Blog!

The media is  creating much hype around Sachin’s hundred. Dhoni is right in saying that it will happen when it has to!
My 100 is happening today.

This writing journey has been exciting  and scoring 100 is  a small token from all the readers I should say. Many thanks to all of you for your patient reading, comments and sharing.  I might have bored you with my Dot balls and Singles.
I might have forced to read with the continuous sharing on Orkut, Facebook and Google+ . But my intention was to score a SIX.  I have to say that I just hit the ball, you carried some of them, with your reading,  to FOURS , SIXES and beyond!

I started Blogging when my friend Bharath started his. It turned into my favorite hobby. Writing Blog has been a kind of Stress buster, a platform to hone my writing skills, to express my  thoughts and ideas.  A thought of stopping came some time ago when no one was really reading them and I was not feeling inspired to continue posting.  Don’t know what made me continue and I became BLOGOMANIAC!

Whether I am celebrating to a full gallery or the empty stands, it’s a nice feeling.  Some comments would make it more warm!

Lets Cheat! Whats the Choice?

Two girls were talking about a boy who was staring at them.
Gopika says” Hey, that guy is staring at you, seems interested in you.”
Radha replies “Heee is an idiot, boring  and look at his face, its like a box. I am waiting for Krishna

A week later we find that the Radha is before that Idiot staring into his boxy face intently.
When Gopika looked at her with a big question marked face, Radha says “I could not wait”

So to underline what Radha said , We are all falling to the easily available choices TV and Internet are offering us. Press – we can have our favorite star dancing for us. Press – We can see how to make Chicken curry in a 100% pure vegetarian way! Click – We can have loads of information craving for our attention.  We always face a lot of situations and what many of us do – To read a book or watch a movie – Push the button. To read for exams or watch a cricket match– If no one is overlooking – Watch the match, If parents are around – Plead for Watch while Reading, which generally turns into Reading in between Watching.
I Don’t know whether TV and Internet have changed our priorities but they are diluting them.

During childhood, teens , If we had no cable connection and what all ways we tried to watch the Cricket matches- We used to look  for the TV showroom which is generous enough to allow  us watch, try different locations and postures to have a better view, concentrate on the commentary to find out the score if its not clear from far.  It was a blessing to watch  Sachin hit those lovely straight drives. If no visual feed is available, searching for radios to listen to the commentary, bear with the disgusting Hindi commentary to find out the latest score. It was worth it. We all used to wait for the “CHITRALAHARI” for the whole week.   The pleasure was equal to climbing the tree and plucking your favorite fruit.  Now we have many guys to get us the fruit and we pick the one who gets it fast.

My mind is very unstable. It used to be very hard during the exams to concentrate on the book, it wanted to on world tour with beautiful, smiling lasses.  A few moments later I would shake that off and got back to the studies. Thank God I did not have the un-rationed internet and TV privileges.  It is sometimes harmful to have choices. We may not make the right choice and later repent it. I wish I would have studied rather than sit before boxy idiot and make India lose the match”. May be we ran through some phase of life feeding on painless pills, but its late before we realize injections are more effective.

And Choice is Addictive. We try to look for that choice in our daily life. While I do designing on Catia V5, there is a choice of Undo and Redo. Something is not coming the way desired – UNDO it. And believe it or not, sometimes in the other activities sub-consciously I look for UNDOing what was done- But the button is missing!  And If we carry that into the relationships – its difficult. We can’t change every thing around us the way we want. One cannot impose on ones Girl/Boy friend to talk to/listen/watch you. we cant change our boss, even though we hate him.  Arrey, what is this ” You have choice in one and not in others” . That’s the tricky part!

Choice is Good, that’s a privilege of our hard work but we should not allow them to hinder our progress or distract us from our goals, if there are any. We should not forget our social, family responsibilities. We cannot spend the Fuel just because we can afford it. Later we will left with no choice.
May be Life becomes better if we consider all these choices as benevolent acts of good God. What do you say?

This idiot boxy lover is showing Radha and now Gopika too! never ending stories of  Men and women with multiple spouses, cheating around  and they are following him loyally. hmm!
I tell them its time to cheat. They ask me ” OK. What are the choices we have?”
Krishna only” I suggest.
They started to look through the internet. ” Look at this guy, he looks macho! See here he has six packs!”
I pray ” Krishna, please come fast, before its late”

Please do comment. You have a choice too..

Rainbow Televisions for the Clouds

The Rain Gods having had a busy seasons are on a holiday to  New Zealand.  They dont have the color TVs for watching the live telecast. They leave for the stadium and are pouring themselves out to watch the games.  They are feeling bad for interrupting the match, but could not resist the temptation of watching Indian team play.
May be they should take the invitation for  bungy jumping and have some fun.
Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu should also  promise the rain Gods with color TVs once coming into power. In fact he needs their blessings.
